In June 2016 a mountainside in Glacier Bay, Alaska, collapsed onto the Lamplugh Glacier, spreading roughly 120 million tonnes of rock across the ice. Satellite views before and after the slide.

What to look for

Compare the glacier before and after: the landslide is the dark sheet of rock lying across the white ice. Judge its size against the width of the glacier.
